The secret to a healthy life is a set of knowledge, choices and habits that allow you to keep your body in an optimal state of physical and mental well-being. This secret mainly involves your nutrition, physical activity. It is useless to remind you that harmful behaviors, such as smoking and using alcohol can certainly reduce the well-being of our body. To achieve this, it is essential to educate yourself on proper nutrition, incorporate a variety of nutritious foods into your diet. As we saw in the previous article, acquiring knowledge of what our body needs in terms of vitamins and minerals to get the right daily strength is crucial for our journey. The first thing to do if you want to become a professional in any field is training. It would be strange to go to a doctor for a stomach ache and find that he does not have the skills to help you. We rightly expect him to have them. Similarly, our body also needs to be nourished in the right way, and it will respond with physical strength and vigor, thus bringing happiness for you. I put you a well-defined list of what I am talking about. Obviously, there are special situations, such as celiac disease and allergies, that we will not cover in this article.
Here is a list of some of them:
Vitamin C:
- Oranges
- Kiwi
- Strawberries
- Peppers
- Spinach
Vitamin B (B complex):
- Whole grains (oats, quinoa, brown rice, corn)
- Cereal biscuits
- Dry biscuits
- Wholemeal biscuits
- Legumes (beans, lentils)
- Lean meat (chicken, turkey)
- Eggs
- Dairy products (milk, yogurt)
Essential minerals:
- Calcium: Milk, cheese, yogurt, cabbage, broccoli
- Iron: Red meat, spinach, beans, lentils
- Potassium: Bananas, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, spinach
- Magnesium: Nuts, seeds, spinach, avocado
- Zinc: Meat, seafood, pumpkin seeds, nuts
Including a variety of these foods in your daily diet will help ensure that you are getting all the vitamins and minerals you need for optimal health. In the next chapter we will go more specifically on the foods needed and the list of vegetables and fruits that contain them.
